The Muslim American Research Institute Advocating Marriage 

PURPOSE

The Purpose of MARIAM is to increase the quantity and quality of marriages among Muslim Americans. So that they can fulfill the mandates of Al-Islam incorporated in Allah's order to "marry those among you who are single."

VALUES

1. Helping couples form a solid framework upon which to base Muslim American Marriages because until we build them it is not possible to build Ummah.

2. Creating halal conditions for Married and Unmarried Muslims to meet and confer on the important elements of Islamic marriage. 

3. Conferring to define the socio-circumstantially appropriate protocol and criteria for unmarried Muslims to form marriages.

4. Making important information and support resources available to assist Muslim Americans in marrying or improving their marriages.

GOALS

1. The participants will have the appropriate conception and perception of marriage in Al-Islam according to Muslim American circumstances and history. 

2. The participants will have the competence in the necessary Muslim American Marriage skill sets for before, during and after marriage.

3. The participants will have marital support resources, including a Nationwide Wali Association, Referral Resources for premarital counseling; a Potential Spouse Referral System; Local Muslim Family Arbitration Councils; establishment of Regular and institutionalized information forums and media (print, electronic and digital) focused on the identification and resolution of issues facing Muslim Americans marriages.
